Castilla Honey

A treasure of Oaxacan meliponiculture

Castilla Honey comes from the melipona bee, a native stingless bee whose breeding (meliponiculture) is an ancestral practice in various regions of Mexico, including Oaxaca. Unlike European bee honey, this honey is more liquid, does not crystallize, and is produced in much smaller quantities, making it an uncommon and highly valued product.

A place in tradition

Within traditional Mexican medicine, Castilla Honey has held a particular place: for generations, different communities have used it as part of their eye care practices. This knowledge has been passed down orally within families, and is part of the cultural heritage of native beekeeping.
